Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries, has been reappointed chairman of the board of governors of the Indian Institute of Management- Bangalore.
Ambani's term ending this month, the human resources development ministry's decision means he'll head the B-school's top decision-making body till 2015.
It's the second consecutive time the HRD ministry has given two terms; Ambani took over from S M Dutta, who served two terms.
Apart from overseeing IIM-B's expansion plans in the wake of the 27% OBC reservation, he is also spearheading the institute's fund raising.
He has volunteered to pay the salary of international faculty, besides sponsoring a Stanford Graduate School of Business and IIM-B student exchange programme.
His appointment follows the decision to prune the size of the board from existing 26 to 16 members.
