Fee payment through ATM

Cuddalore: In the era of automation, Annamalai have stepped forward to set a new trend to pay the fee through the now available Automated Teller Machine.

M. Ramanathan, the Vice-Chancellor of Annamalai University inaugurated the novel facility to pay fees through Automated Teller Machine at Annamalai Nagar, Chidambaram.

Speaking at the function held on the university campus, Mr. Ramanathan said that he was shocked to see a large number of students queuing up at the last minute at college office counters to remit tuition and other fees at the cost of their study time and in turn affecting university too.

The Directorate of Distance Education of Annamalai University faced difficulty in en cashing demand drafts drawn by students from across the country.

Karur Vysya Bank (KVB) had come up with this novel idea, after talks were held with various banks.  The university decided to accept fee through a new mode ATM, as regular fee collection methods were proving to become incompetent.

Being a boon to the students and the university, the varsity would start to accept fee for on-campus students through this mode. Depending on its success, it would be extended to students under distance education mode.

Either the students or their parents having accounts in any of 314 branches of KVB across the country could make payment through ATMs using debit cards.

With the university having a large network of study centres for its distance education programmes, the ATM mode of fee payment would surely facilitate students immensely, Mr. Ramanathan said.

So far, seven educational institutions in the country had adopted the system.

As the facility was offered on a 24x7 basis, the students could remit fees at their convenience without any service charge. The amount would be credited in the universitys account on the same day.
