CLAT 2011 to carry more questions on current affairs

Forthcoming year, aspiring legal pundits will be tested more on their aptitude and reasoning than just subject knowledge.

With the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) set to be held on May 15,2011, the CLAT committee plans to emphasize more on certain sections of the question paper.

To start with, the committee, which met last week, aims to stress on current affairs rather than on general knowledge. We want to test students knowledge on current affairs than just on some standard facts and figures, M P Singh, vice-chancellor, The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, told.

Apart from that, he said, there might be exclusion of legal knowledge as sections like legal aptitude, critical and logical reasoning will be given relative importance. However, the question paper components will remain similar to that of last year, except that certain sections will be stressed upon.

With emphasize on class X level mathematics, the other components of the exam are english, general knowledge, legal law and logical reasoning. Instead of legal law, focus will be on legal aptitude.

We want to judge the studentâ€™s analytical ability and not knowledge alone, Singh said.
