Students from India’s top b-schools will take part in an annual case study competition conducted by Directi, a leading internet products company. Location based social networking is the buzz word these days and this competition will see over a thousand students pitted in a battle for identifying potentially game-changing ideas in the social media space.
“With over a third of the country’s internet population hooked onto social networking, we have witnessed the first leg of a digital revolution in India,” averred Bhavin Turakhia, Founder & CEO of Directi. “The next phase seems more exciting. The features and functionalities available to the 500 million plus mobile phone subscribers are likely to explode with the advent of 3G in the country. Exciting new opportunities like location based social networking will herald the second leg of this digital revolution,” he said.
Realizing the immense potential that location based services hold in this digital era, coupled with the exploding social media user base, Directi has brought together India’s premier management schools to map the future of location based social networks in the country. “The endeavour is to place the crème de la crème of India’s B-school talent in the cutting edge of online strategy”, sums up Bhavin.
The winning teams, that will take home more than three lakh rupees in cash, will be decided by an eminent jury panel comprising Sumir Chadha, Managing Director, Sequoia Capital India, Gaurav Mishra, renowned social media expert and Bhavin Turakhia.
