The Kerala High court directed the self-financing Medical colleges management association not to insist on bank guarantee from students included in their rank list and directed the students to instead furnish a bond.
The direction in this regard was issued by Justice Antony Dominic on a batch of writ petitions filed by 30 students challenging the condition imposed by the management insisting that the students should furnish bank guarantee for rs 22 lakh towards advance fee for the MBBS course in self-financing colleges.
The condition was imposed by 11 self-financing medical colleges which had entered into an agreement with the state government.
The court said it was without authority of law that management insisted on a provision requiring students to remit bank guarantee and directed the students to execute a bond in favour of the management.
