Strict action against unauthorised educational institutions

Chhattisgarh government has decided to take action against non-recognised study centers related to universities outside the state, official sources said today.
 
The state government will conduct an enquiry against unaffiliated institutions in the state and maladministration in collecting fees, they said.
 
The Higher Education department has asked all the district collectors to send a detailed report of such institutions running in the state, official sources said.
 
Officials said that the state government has asked the commissioners of the Raipur, Bilaspur and Bastar divisions to include this issue in the agenda of the collectors' meet as distant study centres have to take permission of the DEC and UGC.
 
UGC has also been approached for rules and directions in this matter, they said.
 
"Students and parents have been warned that before entering, they should properly enquire about these institutions and the institution which he/she intends to get admitted is recognised or not should also be confirmed," Head of the Higher Education department M K Raut said.
 
Institutions concerned with Sikkim Manipal university, Punjab Technical university, ICFAI university among others have been asked to provide a details of the institutes, he said.
 
According to the state machinery, 22 study centres are no recognised. Besides these, there are other study centers that are coming up in the state and the government has sought to take action against these centres.
