New Delhi: Girls have once again surpassed boys in the Class 12 board exams conducted by CBSE
The results for three zones of Delhi, Guwahati and Allahabad were declared on Friday, May 22. The pass percentage of girls was 85.94 percent, as compared to 77.40 percent for boys, the CBSE spokesperson said.
The overall pass percentage this year was 81 percent, showing a moderate increase of 0.09% from the last year.The overall pass percentage was the highest in Chennai region, with 92.06 percent.
This year, 637,578 students - 264,248 female and 373,330 male - took the Class 12 board exams in the country and abroad. Exams were conducted in 5614 centres in six regions of CBSE from March 2 to April 2.
About 82% students of government schools have cleared the test.
Students, not satisfied with their marks, can apply for their verification to the respective regional offices within 21 days from declaration of results.
The CBSE has also launched psychological counselling for students through tele helpline, Interactive Voice Response System and its websites. It will continue till June three. Psychological help is provided to the students during this time to cope with post result situations successfully.
Thirty-seven principals and trained counsellors from CBSE affiliated schools, psychologists and social scientists are operating Tele-Helpline individually from 8 am to 8 pm in four time slots.
The counsellors are located at 18 centres, including Delhi, Noida, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Bhopal, Nagpur, Bangalore and Guwahati.
