HRD minister Kapil Sibal on Wednesday invoked the name of Rajiv Gandhi, in the presence of Congress President and National Advisory Council chairperson Sonia Gandhi, to make the point to his detractors that he was in no hurry to bring in educational reforms.
Speaking at the inauguration of buildings of 31 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV), Sibal said, "Rajiv Gandhi had said we need to improve the quality of education. Twenty-five years have elapsed and we are at the same stage. Now people say we are in a hurry. We should be in a hurry."
Sibal also added that in the coming days special Navodaya Vidyalayas will be set up to encourage children having talent in sports, culture and in other vocational streams.
