The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that schools affiliated to it can now set their own question papers for the term end Summative Assessment (SA) examinations under the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system. Until this decision, the question papers were prepared by the CBSE.
CBSE Chairman Vineet Joshi said that the proposed move was taken in order to empower schools to prepare their own question papers. "The Board had sent the schools question papers last year for the exams in September as they were the first exams under the CCE system. If the schools are confident that they can set their own question papers now, they can," he said.
The affiliated schools had three options to choose from. The first was to continue using the CBSE question papers. The second choice was using multiple sets of question papers sent by the board and the third choice was to set their own papers.
While some private schools like the Delhi Public School (DPS) will set their own question papers, most government schools have decided to continue using CBSE question papers.
