Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Chairman Vineet Joshi has opined that the projects given to the children in schools should be a fun activity done in class and should not be carried home to add on to the parents’ load.
"The projects given to the students are supposed to be done in groups and in the class. It should be made more joyful as it is a part of the learning process. It should not become an extension of work to be done at home or by parents. It also should not be outsourced from shops," Joshi said in an interactive session here.
The session witnessed a barrage of questions being thrown at Joshi by concerned parents who claimed that the project work given to the students under the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system leads to no learning and just adds on to the pressure on students.
Joshi said that the project works under the CCE is done to enhance self-learning and study skills through in-class activities.
