Educating India

South City  International School (SCIS) and Smile Foundation, an NGO, came together to hold Educate India, an awareness campaign to mark World Literacy Day on September 8.

 

The campaign was held to raise awareness privileged youth to promote empowerment among underprivileged children through imparting free education.

 

“The campaign presented us with a great opportunity to participate in a cause significant to our commitment to contribute the best of education to all our children, with an aim to build individuals with intellectual skills as well as social sensibility, transforming the future generation into true global citizens,” said John Bagul, Principal, South City International School.

 

Students from South City International School and invited underprivileged children took part in the event. The students from SCIS hosted a workshop where they chalked out charts and letters on a blackboard.

 

The interactive session with the students and teachers was followed by a cultural performance by the underprivileged children as well as students from SCIS. The children also paid a joint tribute to their teachers observing Teacher’s Day

 

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa-Little Champ winner and singer Sanchita Bhattacharya was present at the occasion to encourage and support the cause. She shared her opinions on the significance of education with the children.
