The nationwide ‘Bus Aur Nahin' signature campaign against ragging, launched by the Muthoot Pappachan Foundation, culminated at the Loyola College here on Thursday.
Students from around 45 colleges in 11 cities had signed on the canvas and taken a pledge not to rag their juniors. Additional Director General of Police T.K. Rajendran, who participated in the programme, said that the government is taking stringent measures against ragging. He said the cooperation and support of the student community was important. Referring to ragging as a ‘vicious circle,' he added that the students who were victimised by their seniors were the ones who ragged their juniors. “So it is important to develop brotherhood among students,” he said. “Ragging destroys the will and motivation of the most promising students. Having understood the seriousness of this issue, we conceptualised the campaign,” said Thomas George Muthoot, Director, Muthoot Pappachan group.
