Considering the increasing demand for skilled manpower, Delhi Government will soon make available nearly 3,000 additional seats in various ITIs and polytechnic institutes run by it.

Currently, Delhi Government-run polytechnics and ITIs offer around 14,300 seats annually in nearly 75 trades.Officials said the additional seats will be made available from the next academic session.
Chairing the first meeting of the re-constituted State Council of Vocational Training, Dikshit also directed the department to review the existing curriculum so that students are imparted training as per requirement of the industry.
Dikshit said the curriculum should be modified keeping in mind the guidelines prescribed by the Delhi Skill Mission.
Also asking the department to modify the admission procedure and make it more student-friendly, she said efforts must be initiated for optimum utilisation of the present infrastructure in institutes.
The Chief Minister also directed the department to come out with a booklet in simple language to help the aspiring students know about admission, eligibility and benefits of the courses being offered.
"This will go a long way in attracting youth to pursue professional courses as their careers," she said.
The meeting decided to consult academicians and captains of industry in Delhi before modifying the existing curriculum.
The meeting also discussed a proposal to set up a Construction Academy in Delhi for which a detailed paper will be prepared after consultations with various builders' organisations and other stakeholders.
