Training for jobless rural youth in Vellore

For conducting skill development programmes in welding for the benefit of unemployed rural youths in and around Vellore, VIT University, Vellore, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Welding Society (IWS), BHEL Ancillary Association, Ranipet (BAAR) and BHEL Suppliers Association (BSA) at the VIT campus here on Saturday.

As per the MoU, unemployed youth including women, in the age group of 18-25, will be given specialised training in welding for a period of six months starting from September.

Out of the six months training period, two months would be at VIT and four months at BHEL ancillary industries. The students undergoing the training would get a stipend of Rs.2500 per month.
The syllabus and course materials would be jointly developed by these organisations, while experts from the organisations would also train the candidates.

About 100 youths are expected to be trained in welding in another one year. There is a good demand for persons having welding training in the manufacturing industry.
