Also called robotic science, mechatronics has wide applications in robotics, nanotechnology, automation, aircraft engineering, biomedical systems, computer-aided design and so on.
In fact if you want to join the telecom sector, nanotech together with mechatronics is a popular study option.
Who can apply
As this is a cutting-edge course, you could join a mechatronics programme if you are a graduate from an electrical/electronic, mechanical, computer/software engineering or physical science discipline who wants to integrate your knowledge to develop an interdisciplinary approach to problem solving and engineering product development.
Career options
Career options include any engineering role that requires competence in understanding interdisciplinary issues with insights. The successful completion of a course in the subject will also give you a foundation to grow into a senior project management role in product development in industrial sectors such as automation systems, automotive engineering, aerospace, shipping or hardware/software development.
The process
If you are applying for a Diploma/B.Tech course you need to have completed PCM at the plus two level with a minimum of 50 per cent marks.
