New IIITs to be set up
With vocational training high on the HRD Ministry’s agenda, the government has decided to set up new Indian Institutes of Information Technologies under the public-private partnership (PPP) mode. India has four IIITs at Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh), Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh), Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) and Kancheepuram
(Tamil Nadu).

Strategic tie-up
The University of California Santa Cruz and the Asian School of Business (ASB) have launched a strategic tie-up that would include a series of exchange programmes. The first in the series planned would be held at a three-day conference entitled Innovation — A tool for fostering entrepreneurship and Regional Economic Development: Learnings from the Silicon Valley Experience — Focus Kerala — from September 22-24, 2010 in Silicon Valley, California.
