Mumbai: Good news for students willing to join Marathi media, as the Mumbai University is likely to offer Bachelor of Mass Media (BMM) course in Marathi.
Eleven colleges in Mumbai including Ramnarain Ruia College; Dadar, Siddharth College; Fort, DG Ruparel College; Matunga and Ambedkar College; Matunga have shown interest in commencing the course from the next academic session.
"We have received positive response from the colleges. We have also modified the syllabus to include information on Marathi media, history etc," said Rammohan Khanapurkar, Board of Studies, BMM.
"A few colleges in the city have applied to start the course in Marathi in this academic year. Colleges are still considering the logistics with regards to teachers, seats etc," said A.D. Sawant, Pro Vice-Chancellor.
Colleges are looking for teachers who can teach in both Marathi and English.
There is already a dearth of eligible/good teachers in the mass media course.
