Twelve new primary schools will be started and 15 primary schools upgraded as upper primary schools under Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) in Tiruchirapalli district, according to District Collector (in-charge) C A Raman.
In a press release here today, Mr Raman, who is also the District Chairperson of SSA, said under the scheme 228 new primary schools had been started and 218 primary schools upgraded as middle schools across the state, He said new primary schools would be started at Panchampatti village in Musiri panchayat union; Meenakshiyur, south Ammapatti, Kootathipatti and Kattappamarathupatti villages in Vaiyampatti union; Thathanayakanpatti, Padukalampoosaripatti, Ponnusangampatti, and Bommampatti villages in Manapparai union; and in Beerangimedu, Manpanchalampatti and Kadayampatti villages in Marungapuri panchayat union.
The primary schools upgraded as upper primary schools are located at Madhurapuri village in Thuraiyur union; Thillampatti in Mannachanallur union; Therkuchathiram, Akalanganallur, Pudutheru and Nathamangudi villages in Lalgudi union; Pambattipatti in Vaiyampatti union, Kamatchipuram in Uppiliapuram union; Olaiyur, M G R Nagar, Yogappudayanpatti and Mattaparaipatti in Manikandam union; Pillupatti and Sokkampatti villages in Marungapuri union, Melakottam and Chinnakodunthurai in Musiri union, the release added.
