National Instruments and Velammal Engineering College, Chennai, signed a MoU to establish a Centre of Excellence in Virtual Instrumentation in the presence of Jayaram Pillai, Managing Director India, Russia and Arabia, National Instruments and M.V. Muthuramalingam, Chairman, Velammal Educational Trust, Chennai.
With a view to improve the quality of engineering education in India and spread the concept of Virtual Instrumentation, VEC took the opportunity under the recently expanded Planet NI (Nurturing Innovation) foundation.
The objective of the centre is to improve the quality of education by introducing latest industrial standard technologies and developing the products which can solve the world problems.
Speaking on the occasion, Pillai said, "This initiative will help us proactively contribute to the development of elite research students and professionals—individuals who will be making tangible contributions to society in India and Globally . The idea is to use technology driven initiatives in the academia-industry interaction to develop the limited exploratory or research-based education."
The Virtual Instrumentation Centre is the first of its kind in the state, supported by the Planet NI Foundation.
