Hyderabad: Due to delay in AICTE inspections, many colleges may not get permission to start functioning this academic year.
The AICTE has not been conducting the inspections due to the long-drawn election work in different parts of the country.
As the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) inspection for granting permission to new engineering colleges got delayed., 100 new engineering colleges may not get permission within time so that they can be included for this year’s counselling for BE admissions.
If the AICTE fails to conduct the inspections within the specified time and accord permission, many new colleges will be forced to make admissions only from the academic year 2010-11.
'Once the election dates were announced all inspections were stopped as the election code came into force. The inspections not only in AP, whereas in the entire nation were put to halt,' an AICTE official told.
More than 100 engineering colleges are waiting for AICTE's approval. In addition, approval is also awaited for 130 new colleges which had applied for permission during 2008-09.
Inspections for these 130 colleges had been made, but permission was not given. The colleges had to provide all the requisite amenities so that inspections could be done again and permission given.
Counselling for Eamcet is likely to be finished by the end of July and the classes will begin on August first
