AU to offer one year executive MBA from 2011

Ahmedabad University will commence one-year executive MBA programme in collaboration with the Cambridge University from next year, besides opening a school of Information and Communication Technology here, a top AU official said.
  
"We shall begin offering one year executive MBA programme for family driven organisations from January 15, 2011, for which the curriculum will be jointly designed by Cambridge and Ahmedabad University," Ahmedabad University Board of Management Chairman Prafull Anubhai told newsmen.
   
AU established a year ago, is promoted by Ahmedabad Education Society, a body instrumental in establishing premier education and research institutions in the city like ATIRA, PRL, NID, IIM-A, CEPT.
  
"In a family driven business there are some key managerial issues which need to be taken care of, so we have identified such topics and decided to offer a specialised course to address them," AU registrar B M Shah said.
  
"The fee for this one year residential programme will be between Rs 7.50 to 9 lakh, as part of which the students shall get a chance to interact with entrepreneurs at Cambridge," he said.
  
An AU degree shall be awarded to them, while Cambridge will issue them certificates, he said. "We have proposed to set up a school of Information and Communication Technology which is expected to start functioning from next academic year," he said.
  
"AU has also proposed to start sector specific MBA's like in Pharmacy, which is expected to be rolled out from next year," Anubhai said.
  
"Re-designing the existing courses to meet demands of a changing economy, AU has proposed to offer BBA honours, where the students will get an option to pursue advance courses after one year," he said.
  
"The finanical aid for first batch of 60 MBA students was of Rs 15 lakh," Anubhai said, adding that an announcement of Shardashish scholarship to deserving students has been made this year.
  
"We are working on a proposal of forming a Ahmedabad Education cluster. A sub-committee has been formed to discuss how synergy can be developed between these diverse group of specialised institutions situated within a periphery of 600 acres of land," he said.
  
"The first meeting of this cluster was held recently and there are some legacy issue which shall be sorted out soon," Anubhai said.The university presently offers three undergraduate and two masters programme MBA and MCA.
