IIM Kozhikode recently conducted a new initiative to nurture young talent in order to create global leaders. National Leadership Foundation in collaboration with IIM K and with the support of TalentBridge organized a three day Youth Leadership Summit 'SMILO' - Self Mastery and Life in an Organization. The leadership discovery summit held at IIM Kozhikode (Calicut), Kerala, helped the participants towards analyzing their inner self and using techniques for mastery and inner transformation. The rejuvenating three day workshop was aimed at providing a platform for those who are motivated and driven to - Discover themselves, Decode their talent, Deliver exceptional value to the country.
According to Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM Kozhikode, "The objective of this initiative is to identify exceptional talent and groom them for nation building and global businesses. SMILO 2010 saw 19 students from leading institutions like IITs, IIMs and deemed universities, nurtured and ready to face the vagaries of a business environment. I believe in order to become thought leaders and global business ambassadors we need to start training young minds. These young students have had to go through a rigorous selection process through an online application and based on a set of parameters that go beyond academics".
This will also be a forum where selected participants can interact with their highly gifted peer group representing the top five percent of the talent pool of young India. This may provide them with an opportunity to undertake a project that they may choose to pursue. They may also seek mentorship from contemporary leaders while learning lessons on life and leadership. The workshop will enable the participants to gain fundamental clarity about their thoughts, beliefs and actions and a new orientation to life.
Sandip Yuwanati, President of National Leadership Foundation, Co-founder of TalentBridge and an IIM alumnus says, "The idea is to create a pool of young and bright minds with a sense of urge to contribute back to society. These young and bright minds would be associated with National Leadership Foundation, provided they are willing to 'give unconditionally', that's the only criteria National Leadership Foundation looks for."
