The district education department is on a mission. Setting the bar at its highest, they are concentrating on making sure that the district which was in the 15th position in SSLC exams should be in the first position the next time. The department has started a process to increase the learning ability of the students of class X.
Deputy director of public instruction L Rangappa said they have introduced monthly mini examinations for 50 marks and that the exams for July will be held in its last week.
He said 60 resource persons have been identified in all the six subjects and these resource persons have been formed as a team of 10 with each team being entrusted with a block. The team will assist high school teachers in solving curriculum-related problems to enhance their knowledge and impart it to the students who have been identified as slow learners.
This team will also visit all the schools in their blocks and review the subject-wise learning capacity of the students so that their learning problems can be resolved.
He said till September, each school teacher has been asked to prepare question papers in their respective subjects for 50 marks and from October onwards, students have to answer a 100 marks question paper. After perusing through the answers, the weak students will be given extra guidance to overcome their learning difficulties.
He said last year he adopted some new methods in teaching subjects like English, science and mathematics which are considered to be tough. The methods showed good results thereby leading to the challenge of trying for first position.
