PSLV launch countdown on July 10

Preparations for the July 12 launch of PSLV-C15, carrying 694 kg Cartosat-2B, the most advanced remote sensing satellite and four other nano satellites, were progressing satisfactorily at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Spokesperson S Satish told UNI the PSLV-C15 would lift off from the SHAR Range at 0922 hrs on July 12. The T-51 hour countdown for the launch was expected to commence at 0622 hrs on July 10.

''The satellites had already been mated with the vehicle and the launch preparations are progressing smoothly,'' he added.

The launch was earlier scheduled for May 9. But it was deferred after ISRO scientists noticed a marginal drop in the pressure in the second stage of the vehicle during the mandatory checks carried out on the PSLV-C15 vehicle.

After a thorough analysis, the second stage was taken to the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre at Mahendragiri in Tamil Nadu, where the problem was rectified and brought back to Sriharikota and integrated with the vehicle.

PSLV-C15 would launch India`s Cartosat-2B, an Algerian satellite ALSAT-2A, two nano satellites NLS 6.1 and NLS 6.2 from University of Toronto, Canada and STUDSAT, a satellite built by students from academic institutions in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh
