The Anna University of Technology, Madurai, (AUTMDU), will start functioning in a full-fledged manner in the next three years, its Vice-Chancellor Dr R Murugan today said.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the land acquisition process for setting up the varsity in 100 to 125 acres was going on.
The proposed campus with state-of-the-art infrastructure and sophisticated facilities would give more emphasis for basic research oriented programmes. While framing curriculum, the local need of the industry would be considered to bridge the gap between the University education and Industrial needs, he said.
Stating that all degree-level technical institutions in the districts of Madurai, Dindigul, Theni, Ramanathapuram and Sivagangai were affiliated to AUTMDU, Dr Murugan said plans were afoot to implement 'EXIMTECH' policy in the varsity to pave way for interaction with other varsities and premier institutions in India and abroad.
Research scholars would have an opportunity to do a part of research work in AUTMDU, and the remaining work in other universities and institutions and vice versa, he added.
