The Meghalaya Education Department has decided to introduce open schooling to help the students who failed in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations.
''We will introduce State Institute for Open Schooling (SIOS) centres for the failed students in the past to appear in the examinations for only in their backlog subjects,'' Meghalaya Education Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh told reporters yesterday after a meeting of the State Review Committee on Education.
The SIOS would have centres in all seven district of the state through involvement of respective district Institute of Educational Training (DIET) centres, Ms Lyngdoh said.
Education department has also proposed a projects of Rs 52 crore to the Ministry of Human Resources for undertaking training programmes for teachers in the state, Ms lyngdoh said. Teachers teaching mathematics and seicnce would be sent for training in batches, he added.
