The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Education Committee head, Dr. Mahendra Nagpal announced recently that MCD would be making the education English medium in 249 primary schools.
Dr. Nagpal said that the English medium of education had begun in 267 schools called the Nigam Pratibha Vidyalayas. "Students who got educated in the English language in the first standard would be taught all subjects in the English medium in the second standard as well. We have already acquired books for English medium students," he said.
He also added that over a time period of five years, all classes upto the fifth standard would be made English medium.
Informing that each section of the Nigam Pratibha Vidyalayas would be of 40 students each, Dr. Nagpal said that the selection of students to the schools would be conducted via a draw by a committee constituted by the Director of Primary Education.
The teachers who will teach at the MCD schools would be arranged by transfer-posting. MCD teachers are selected via a tough selection process and hence, are competent.
