The Municipal Corporation of Delhi will include 249 more primary schools in its scheme of imparting education in English medium.
Chairman of MCD Education Committee Mahendra Nagpal today said all the classes up to class V will be gradually converted into English medium over a period of five years.
So far, this medium of education has been started in 267 schools, rechristened as Nigam Pratibha Vidyalaya.
"Those who got education in English medium in class I will now be taught subjects in English medium in class II also. Books for English medium students have been procured," Nagpal said.
He said each section of Nigam Pratibha Vidyalaya will be of 40 students. The selection will be made by the draw of lots by a committee constituted by the Director, Primary Education.
The teachers for English medium will be arranged by transfer and posting. The English medium school will get priority in provision of basic necessities. Funds can also be arranged with the help of Local Area Councillors for provision of the basic amenities.
