48 Flying instructors complete training

Tambaram: Henceforth, after diverse extensive training the 48 trainees are highly equipped and shortly will teach others to fly fighter aircrafts.

After the recent successful completion of 24 weeks of training at the Qualified Flying Instructors’ School in Indian Air Force (IAF) Station, Tambaram, the 47 officers of the Indian Armed Forces and one of the United States Air Force, received their certificates making them eligible to train pilots.

Setting them apart to train pilots as 'Defence Flying Instructors' Air Marshal K.D. Singh, Air Officer Commanding in Chief, South Western Air Command of IAF handed over certificates to the officers at a solemn investiture ceremony held inside IAF, Tambaram.

With great emphasis on 'instructional techniques' the trainees were exposed to a mix of flying and ground training during the course of 24 weeks. These officers had now become eligible to train young trainee pilots with the completion of this course.

Squadron Leader Anshu Puri received the Majithia Trophy for standing first in Overall Order of Merit.

Captain Brian Hoelzel of Unites States Air Force said that he had come to Tambaram Station of IAF in an exchange programme and was glad to be part of an important learning process. After this, he would proceed to Hyderabad, where he would spend 18 months imparting training to pilots on various modules.
