The newly formed National Institute of Technology here in the union territory of Puducherry will start functioning from July 20.
The admission process for all NITs in the country, including the Karaikal NIT, will be completed before July 2, officials said today. The NIT would start functioning from its makeshift location at the Aringnar Anna Government Arts College here.
To start with, Karaikal NIT will offer Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) and Computer Science courses. The intake for 2010-11 will be totally 90 for these three branches (30 seats in each branch).
Out of the 90 seats, 45 had been earmarked as All-India quota. Out of the remaining 45 seats, 25 will go for Andamans and Puducherry students will get 20.
