Department of MBA of Dr. SNS Rajalakshmi College of Arts and Science inaugurated “Growth- A Guide to Cultivating Self-Development” to enable students to perform better in the on- and off-campus interviews. It was inaugurated by R. Dhandapani, former Director of Lakshmi Vilas Bank, who gave a lecture about life skills.
A one-day faculty development training camp on ‘blended learning' was held by P.A. College of Engineering and Technology in association with Grammaticus, Chennai. De-stressing techniques, alternate methods of teaching and differences between teaching, training and facilitating were illustrated. P. Appukutty, Chairman, delivered the presidential address and R. Devarajan, Professor, talked about the responsibilities that lie with present day professionals in his valedictory remarks.
The MBA students of Coimbatore Institute of Engineering and Technology conducted a campaign to promote the protection of the Ooty Lake, on their industrial visit to Hindustan Photo Films, as a part of their Students' Social Responsibility Programme. Handbills highlighting the necessity to protect the lake from pollution were distributed to locals and tourists.
KTVR Knowledge Park for Engineering and Technology inaugurated a Personality Development Club. V. Sakthi, Tamil Film Actor, was the chief guest for the day. He shared his college and acting experiences and also had an interaction session with the students. The objective of the club is to groom students into multi-faceted personalities.

Kannadasan, Vice-Chancellor (officiate), Anna University, stressed on preserving the environment for the future generations and advised the students to carry out research work at the undergraduate level itself. The University Placement Cell and Shrishti Quiz Club of Avinashilingam University held ‘Inquizitive -2010' for all graduates. Conducted by Biju Velayudan, Senior Manager –IT, G. Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital, the quiz programme was to provide students an opportunity to enhance their knowledge in various fields. Prizes were distributed by Saroja Prabhakaran, Vice-Chancellor, Avinashilingam University for Women.
Ranganathan Engineering College (REC) organised a six-day soft skill training programme for the pre-final year students sponsored by Anna University. Rose Witherow, training co-ordinator, Success Triology (Australia) and her team trained 236 students, at the end of which R. Murugesan, Principal, REC, delivered the valedictory address.

Noorul Amin Shahid, Assistant Professor, Department of Physical Medicine, Coimbatore Medical College, highlighted the scope of biomedical engineers in the future and their role in healthcare before awarding certificates to the academic toppers.

The University Grants Commission sanctioned Rs. 4.77 lakh to the Department of Commerce, Kovai Kalaimagal College of Arts and Science for a project on the “Role of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in the development of socio-economic status of women in Coimbatore district. G. Angaiah, Department of Commerce, is the principal investigator of the project.
