Saurashtra University (SU) has decided to introduce Choice Base Credit System (CBCS) and semester system in graduate and post graduate courses from the new academic year.
"It has been decided to implement the new policy by the current academic year starting from September 2010" the release issued by the varsity said here today.
The new policy would be implemented in eight faculties and students of those faculties can now compete nationally and internationally, it said. Saurashtra University is the first in the state to implement the BCBS and semester system, the release claimed.
Before implementing the the new policy the officials of the varsity met officials from different varsities where the policy is already in place and also held meeting with
officials of National University for Education Planning and University Grant Commission.
The decision to implement new policy was taken yesterday at a meeting headed by SU's Vice Chancellor Kamlesh Joshipura, the release said, adding Registrar Gajendra Jani and SU's exam controller Jagdish Mamtora were among those present.
