Banking, finance training, placement for youth of weaker sections

New Delhi: Youth, belonging to weaker economic sections, can now apply for a diploma course in banking, finance and insurance which has been launched by Institute of Computer and Finance Executives (ICFe) and NGO Prayas.

The partnership for the initiative, called 'Koshish', was launched today. The computer and finance institution has launched the course as a part of Corporate Social Responsibility.

The year-long diploma course will train class XIIth pass outs and graduates in Banking, Finance, Soft Skills and Insurance (BFSI)to enable them to get employment as soon as the course ends.

Ms Arun Grover, Director, Prayas, said, ''We are already working with a lot of children in slum areas of Delhi. For this initiative, we will focus on students whose family income is Rs 1 lakh or less.'' She said the students would also be provided placement.

Students will be charged Rs 16,000-32,000 for the diploma depending on the nature of the course.

Prayas General Secretary and Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) Amod Kanth said, ''The only way to move forwards and execute such noble causes is the partnership between the social and corporate sectors.'' 'Koshish' aims at training nearly 5,000 students from the under-privileged sections this year.
