Tackling the human resource crisis

The Ministry of Human Resource Development is likely to introduce a new course in animation in schools governed by the CBSE as soon as it receives a detailed model for this stream from the film industry which wants government to initiate animation courses in all schools and colleges as early as possible, said Kapil Sibal, Union HRD Minister.

Sharing the need for such courses, at ASSOCHAM’s 6th Education Seminar-cum-Fair held in Delhi recently, the Minister said that a delegation had called on him to press for the introduction of animation courses at all school levels in view of the demand the in film industry. “I have asked them to prepare a detailed role model for animation courses that Bollywood wants to be taught in schools under the CBSE and as soon as it is given to the government, the course will be put in place,” said Sibal.

The Minister also emphasised the need for the introduction of skill-based and resourceful courses in all CBSE controlled institutions and at college levels so as to successfully absorb the shock of any human resource crisis. If India needed to survive a foreseeable human resources crisis, it had to prepare itself — a beginning thus had to be made in schools by imparting skills not only in animation but other such subjects Sibal felt.

Sibal allayed all fears that Indian universities and higher education institutions would face any discrimination after the Foreign University Bill was enacted as foreign education institutions and domestic academic institutions would be regulated by accredited agencies appointed by the government as per the provisions of the law.
