IGNOU-UNESCO Science Olympiad

New Delhi: The Indira Gandhi National Open University and UNESCO will organise a South Asia Science Olympiad for 11th grade students from all SAARC countries.

Eleventh grade students from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka with a minimum of 70 per cent average in Maths and Science subjects in their 10th grade can participate in the Science Olympiad.

"Students of Indian higher secondary and CBSE board studying in 11th grade or equivalent in the SAARC countries can get the accredited merit certificates by participating," a release from the IGNOU said today.

Students can register through IGNOU and UNESCO websites before June 25, it said.

Successful participants will receive certificates of merit, medals, cash prizes and awards. Top 1,000 participants will be given IGNOU-UNESCO accredited merit certificates, said P T Manoharan of the Sir C V Raman Chair at the IGNOU.

"About 30-40 meritorious participants from the SAARC countries will be invited to IGNOU in New Delhi to take the second test and to receive the awards in person," he said.
