Madurai: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) would offer certificate courses in Chinese and Spanish languages from this year.
Talking to reporters after a function to open a new campus for its regional centre here, IGNOU Vice-Chancellor V N Rajasekharan Pillai said the institution had signed an agreement with National Legal Services Authority to provide law related awareness. It would be offering LLB (intellectual property rights) and BA (para-legal education), he said.
It would offer MBA in textile industry managment at the regional centre here in collobaration with Textile Ministry. Besides, it would launch two certificate courses in apparel marketing and merchandising and apparel production and quality managment to provide man power to textile sector.
A Tamilarasi, Minister for Adidravidar Welfare, who inaugurated the centre said the Tamil Nadu government had taken various steps including reducing fee for engineering colleges and appointing 2600 college teachers to improve the
higher education.
