In its 18th year of collaboration with the Glasgow College of Nautical Studies, AMET University now offers B.E. Marine Engineering (four years) for engineering cadets and B.Sc. Nautical Science (three years) for deck cadets, approved by the Directorate General of Shipping, Government of India.
The university also provides management programmes such as MBA Shipping and Logistics Management, MBA Shipping Finance, and other courses. A B.E. Naval Architecture programme offered at AMET is accredited by the Royal Institute of Naval Architects. A collaborative naval architecture degree programme with the University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom, is also offered.
The Chennai-based university was conferred university status under Section 3 of the UGC status (deemed-to-be university) in 2007 under the de novo category.
