Tepid response to CGLE online process

The introduction of online application for the Combined Graduate Level Examination, 2010, failed to receive response from a chunk of the candidates.

According to a senior official of the Staff Selection Commission, about 7 lakh applications have been received from candidates all over the country. But only 1.08 lakh applications have been received online.

“The Southern Region of Staff Selection Commission received 35,000 applications online but around 10,000 have been rejected because of many candidates failing to complete part two of the online application, which includes uploading signature and photograph,” said an official. “Many applications have been rejected for non-payment of fees,” he said. Normally, the percentage of rejection of manual applications would be around 2 to 3 per cent, the official added. Successful candidates appearing for the examination, which would be conducted on May 16, may be selected for 15 different services. The examination would substitute five examinations — Combined Graduate Level Examination, Tax Assistant Examination, Sub-Inspectors in Central Police Organisations Examination, Statistical Investigator Gr II Examination and Compilers in RGI Examination.

The launch of the revamped website by the southern region of the commission, www.sscsr.gov.in, has been made to help candidates with better content and avoid delay in the process of conducting the examination.
