Kohima: The Nagaland University (NU) Post Graduate Students' Union (PGSU) has served an ultimatum to the Vice-Chancellor and Nagaland University Teachers' Association (NUTA) to resolve the ongoing crisis and resume normal classes with effect from today in all the campuses of the NU.
The PGSU, in the ultimatums served separately to the Vice-Chancellor and the Chief Executive Committee (CEC) of NUTA, said the ongoing crisis within the university, resulting in the call of NUTA for total academic closure, is affecting the careers of the students.
The PGSU asserted that the students' prerogative right to education has been flouted by NUTA's ongoing agitation and warned that the union would be constrained to initiate drastic measures against the NUTA in the event of failure to resume normal academic classes within the deadline.
In the ultimatum to the Vice-Chancellor, the PGSU demanded to resolve the issue within March 17 failing which, it warned, it would initiate an agitation against him.
The ultimatums to both the Vice-Chancellor and the NUTA were signed by the presidents of the unions of the Kohima, Medziphema and Lumami campuses of the University.
