Anna University, Coimbatore, plans to set up a detachable / acœrelocatable library-cum-auditorium at its Jothipuram campus.
The 1,200 sq. ft. steel structure will house a library in the ground floor and an auditorium in the first floor, according to Vice-Chancellor R. Radhakrishnan.
The entire structure is fitted with nuts and bolts that can be put up and dismantle. The library will have pillars while the auditorium will not have pillars, said the Vice- Chancellor.
Since the university did not have a permanent campus such an arrangement was developed. The structure would be detached from its present location and put up at the new location, as per a plan. The entire structure is detachable; all that requires is a concrete base to fix the structure to the ground.
The auditorium would have a seating capacity of 1,000, can be used for holding conferences, seminars and workshops. The first convocation of the university will be held in the auditorium in July, the Vice-Chancellor said.
