The new academic year is round the corner and Plus-Two students who will get into colleges soon would be looking out for more information on courses, institutions and opportunities.
Keeping this in mind, the University Grants Commission and the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology have extended support to Yadava College in Madurai in bringing out a 100-page comprehensive information guide on bioscience courses offered in various institutes across the country.
The book was released during an awareness programme on bioscience for school students, organised by Yadava College recently. “Our aim is to make Class XII students know about courses, careers, institutes, opportunities and scholarships available to take up bioscience courses. This is an attempt to attract boys and girls into the fold of biological sciences and increase students' enrolment in basic sciences,” said P. S. Navaraj, Associate Professor (zoology) and Coordinator of science programmes, Yadava College.
Information on bioscience, biotechnology, nano-biotechnology, bio-informatics and genomics has been provided in this book. Details of undergraduate/postgraduate courses being offered by various institutions are provided. Scholarships available for bioscience courses through different agencies have been included in the guide.
G. Srinivasan, joint secretary, UGC Regional Office, Hyderabad; K. P. Navaneethakrishnan, secretary and correspondent, Yadava College; P. Rengan, principal, participated in the function.
