About 70 delegates from India and other countries took part in a conference on research trends in application of mathematics, in Chennai recently.
Organised by the Mathematics Department of Dr. MGR Janaki College of Arts and Science for Women, the conference's emphasis was on the areas of applications of mathematical tools and techniques. The speakers addressed methods, issues and problems and potential lines of research. V. Ramachandran, former vice-chancellor, Anna University-Tiruchi, inaugurated the conference.
College celebrates silver jubilee
Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth (CTTE) College for Women, the first self-financing college affiliated to the University of Madras, celebrated its silver jubilee with a week-long series of events organised by various departments.
On February 8, CTTE trust chairman J. Kanakaraj, retired judge, inaugurated the celebrations, a press release issued by the college said. The Tamil Department held a Muthamizh Vizha on the first day. A panel discussion on sensationalism in journalism was organised by the English department. The Departments of Computer Science and Computer Applications, and Commerce, Corporate Secretaryship and Business Administration, hosted lectures, and the Department of Mathematics conducted a national symposium.
The celebrations concluded on 13 February, with a talk by Mylswamy Annadurai, project director, Chandrayaan.
