Indian Railway officers undergo Management programme: IIM-C

Kollkata: The Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C) and Indian Railway board signed MoU to offer training of Indian railway service officers for the next five years starting this year.

The IIM-C has launched a 12-week executive general management programme for 60 Indian Railway officers.

The programme comprised topics on in economics, human resource management, management information systems, public policy, behavioural sciences, operations management, marketing, ethics, finance and accounting and strategic management an also industrial visit to eastern region as a part of their course.

The Railway Board of India has said the IIM-C to conduct executive general management programme for railway officers as a part of the regular 18-month training program for Indian Railway service probationer officers.

Getting through the Engineering Service Examinations and the Civil Services Examinations of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), the probationer Indian railway service officers are need to undergo an 18-month training program before induction into service on various railway zones.

Officers will be allotted classroom training at Railway Staff College Vadodara and specialized training institutes, as well as field training on zonal railways, divisions, construction organizations and manufacturing units of the Indian Railways.
