For the first time in the state, Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) has launched `Online Examinations System' in all the courses offered by the new university.
Though some universities are conducting exams through online, the system was introduced in some departments only.
The experience acquired on online examinations in the university will help us for attending tests and interviews in future, said the students and thanked the management for introducing online exams system.
Many students are not having basic knowledge on computers and access to internet. The institution management provided training by conducting practice tests for students on online examinations before introducing the new system, said VSU Vice-Chancellor Prof. C.R.Visweswara Rao.
``Nowadays, many companies and banks are conducting tests and interviews through online. We are enjoying the new system of appearing for exams on computers. The experience in the university will certainly help the students in appearing for national level tests and interviews'', says an M.Sc Marine Biology student Haveena.
Prof. T.Sudha, Head of the Department, Computer Science, said the students should login with the hall ticket number and answer the questions given in multiple choice model in 30 minutes. The system will display time and indicate if there are any unanswered questions.
Immediately, after the test the system will award marks for the student. Very soon we will make arrangements for issuing answer sheets and the key (hard copies) for the students, she said.
Registrar V.Narayana Reddy said at the university is having 40 computers in the lab and we are planning to arrange a separate lab for MCA department. The online examinations system will provide knowledge for rural students on how to create an ID, login, sending mails, and going through internet.
Training would also be given for faculty in all departments to conduct the tests through online, said Mr.Reddy.
