Hyderabad: The Jawahar Lal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad will set up special cell in districts to make colleges economically viable under the jurisdiction of JNTU.
This was announced by Dr Allam Appa Rao, Vice-Chancellor, JNTU.
The varsity is also planning to offer engineering course in nuclear energy in Kakinada and Vizianagaram colleges. For the same the university is likely to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) universities in United States and Sweden.
Besides promoting extensive use of electronic equipment instead of paper in administrative work, the university would be introducing engineering course in nuclear energy in Kakinada and Vizianagaram colleges. He hoped that it would bring economical and industrial transformation in the two districts.
US Consul General would be visiting the university campus on April 22, informed Dr Rao.
As part of giving priority to research in technical education, Technical Education and Quality Improvement Programme would be implemented in the next five years with the World Bank assistance of Rs 150 crores.
Courses in defence studies will also be offered by the varsity.
