Technopreneur on February 20

Technopreneur, a yearly event organised by the students of Yi-MEC Net, Model Engineering College, Thrikkakara, is scheduled to be held this year at IMA House in Kochi on February 20.

The 2010 edition will feature two parallel events—Technopreneur 2010, with the theme ‘Technology for Social Progress', and the inaugural Sociopreneur, a competition intended to promote social entrepreneurship.

The event also features the inauguration of Project Corpuscles, a social entrepreneurship venture by the Yi net of MEC.

Project Corpuscles and the associated database would enable people and hospitals to find willing blood donors without delay. The website of the project will formally be inaugurated on the day of the event.

Sessions

A video conference session with Mr. Sam Pitroda, advisor to the Prime Minister on Public Information Infrastructure and Innovations, is on the agenda.

Various other achievers and leaders in different walks of life will also participate in different sessions and a concert by the band Sound Awake is also part of the programme.

2009 edition

The 2009 edition of the event attracted students from Indore, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Suratkal and Warangal, the organisers said.

The audience in attendance has also grown from a few hundred for the inaugural edition to over 1500 for the 2009 edition.
