With India’s economy growing, people’s aspirations for higher learning are also growing. With this in mind, The Times of India has come out with the second volume of Higher Education — A Guide to Opportunities in India and Abroad, a niche publication to help guide readers through the maze of information available both in print and web. The book was formally launched on January 6 by Najeeb Jung, vice-chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia University, at the Oxford Book Store, New Delhi.
In keeping with the first volume, the second volume focuses on higher education but with an emphasis on education in the 21st century.
Besides, it focuses on the importance of collaboration and an interdisciplinary approach to higher education. It showcases research projects from across the globe, emerging areas across disciplines, new trends in India and abroad and other useful information on courses, funding, centres of excellence, institutes, etc.
An advisory board comprising an eminent list drawn from both academia and industry and representing every discipline advised the editorial team on content.
Speaking on the occasion, Jung said: “The advent of information technology and the increasing size of the Indian economy are offering a wide range of career opportunities for Indian students. However, there is not much information available to students about these opportunities. The book aims to bridge this information gap.”
The book is priced at Rs 195 and available at all leading bookstores across the country.
