Nano Mission grant for SASTRA University

The Nano Mission council of the Central government has provided financial support to the postgraduate programme in Medical Nanotechnology offered by the Shanmugha Arts Science Technology and Research Academy (SASTRA) University.

The financial support includes a one-time equipment grant of Rs. 1.5 crore, stipend of Rs. 5,000 per month to students, and consumables for five years.

The Senior Regional Manager of Indian Overseas Bank, Thanjavur, A.M.Venkatesa Prasad, distributed the scholarships.

Nano Mission is an umbrella programme for capacity building which envisages overall development of this field of research in the country and to tap some of its applied potential for national development.

Besides supporting PG programmes in medical nanotechnology, the mission is providing contingency and library and research grants.
