Kolkata: Finally, a ray of hope to resolve the spat between students and authorities of Jadavpur University. After students demonstrated for more than 30 hours at JU’s open-air theatre, the university’s executive committee set up a panel to recommend ways to curb noise pollution.
The authorities have decided to install sound filters all around the theatre to muffle the noise emitted during cultural events. With this, those living around the campus will breathe a sigh of relief, as will students in classrooms.
“The Pollution Control Board has offered to rent us sound filters. The university can also look into turning the open air theatre into a closed-arena,” said a member of the Faculty of Engineering Technology and Science Students’ Union.
