SRU-Berkely sign MoU for masters programme

Chennai: Leading education service provider Sri Ramachandra University (SRU) and University of California-Berkely today signed an MoU to launch masters programme in public health.
 
This two-year four semester study would be started by the Department of Environmental Health Enginerring of SRU and the objective of this agreement include training of SRU faculty and conducting joint research activities.
 
The SRU-Berkely inter-institutional collaboration is supported by the 'International Trainng and Research Programme in Environmental' and 'Occupational Health Programme' of the Forgarty International Centre and National Institutes of Health, USA.
  
The agreement was signed by SRU Pro Chancellor (Research) Dr S P Thyagrajan and Dr Stepehen M Shortell, Dean, School of Public Health, UC Berkely.
  
Apart from medical students, engineering graduates and post-graduates in science are eligible to do the course.
  
Speaking on the occasion Stepehen said that Indian health care delivery system should be modernised. "We have to work in group and organisation level with the support of the government to address the health care system in the country".
  
He said that these kind of collobration on establishing health education between universities will go a long way in not only addressing the health care system but also helps to new techniques in providing health services to the people.
